BibleXpress gets dictionary in version 1.3
Saturday, November 1, 2008
I uploaded version 1.3 to Apple today. Look for a new tutorial video in the coming days to describe how to use the new features, which are very different. It usually takes about a week for the update to be posted.
Version 1.3 now includes a dictionary, Easton’s Bible Dictionary. Easton’s is a public-domain dictionary that contains definitions specific to Christianity, such as Biblical names, places, and definitions of words that are specific to Christianity. Although it was originally written for the KJV, the hyperlinks in the definitions will link in to whatever translation you happen to be viewing at the moment.
Version 1.3 also features an entirely new way to handle notes. Check out the new YouTube video on the Home page. Notemarks are now viewed in the bookmarks tab. Verse notes are still accessed by tapping the “Notes” tab, but they slide up to fill the lower third of the Scripture area. If you use the “verse index” along the right edge of the screen, the scripture & notes will scroll together, making it very easy for you to see what’s there. Tap in the verse notes area and it will expand to fill the screen for editing. To slide the notes back down, tap the Notes tab again.
The English Standard Version (ESV) has been updated with paragraph formatting, subheadings, red-letters, and small-caps.
A new translation, The Message (TM), has been added. At this time, there are no subheadings, or paragraph formatting.
