Update 1.4 available, Call for translators for version 1.5
Sunday, January 4, 2009
I missed the deadline to upload the version 1.4 update to Apple before Christmas vacation by an hour. They opened again Last Sunday, and I got version 1.4 late submitted that night. I became available yesterday. Check out the new features here.
The core code for BibleXpress version 1.5 is complete and working correctly, along with a new web service to allow users to download and installed public domain (i.e. no copyright restrictions) translations of the Bible directly from within BibleXpress. The intent is to broaden the spectrum of languages that BibleXpress supports. In order for this to be all it can, BibleXpress’s user interface must be translated into all the supported languages. For launch, I am planning on German, Chinese, and Spanish. If it goes well: I hope to add many more later. I’ve gotten requests for Portuguese, Russian, Hebrew (sorry, Hebrew is not supported on iPhone!), Greek (Greek is not supported either), French, Italian, Japanese, Thai, Arabic, and a bunch of others I can’t even spell or remember.
But I am not a linguist, so I need you to help me.
(My high school teachers would say I’m not even that good with English!)
If you are fluent in both English and one of the above languages (or other language which the iPhone supports, I have provided instructions for you on this page. If you are fluent, it shouldn’t take more than half an hour of your time, and will enable many people speaking languages other than American English to read the Bible and more fully enjoy BibleXpress.
Special thanks to all those who have offered to help, I appreciate it very much.
In the meantime, check out the new testimony blog, Testimonies, and send in your testimonies about what Christ has done in your life. I’ve just posted one of the amazing things God has done in my life up there. I’m sure the rest of us can’t wait to hear about yours.
